Origin This product is a dried whole plant of the Pterocarviaceae Wahlenbergia marginata (Thunb.) A. DC.
The original plant blue ginseng is a perennial herb; the root is slender, up to 10 centimeters long. Stems erect or beaked, 20-40 cm tall, branching near base, glabrous or near base hairy. Leaves alternate, usually linear, 1 to 3 cm long, 2 to 4 mm wide, entire or shallowly undulate, sessile, base leaves often smaller, oblong or obovate. Summer flowering. Dichotomous panicle terminal, with several flowers; pedicels 1 to 2 cm long; calyx tube ca. 4 mm, lobes 5, ca. 2 to 3 mm; corolla blue, funnel-shaped campanulate, 5–8 Millimeters, lobes 5, oblong; stamens 5, filaments separated. Capsules conical in shape, 6-8 mm long and 3 short at the top.
Born on low wet grasslands in plains or hills. Located in the provinces and regions south of the Yangtze River. It is available in tropical Africa, Asia and Oceania.
Harvesting processing The summer and autumn seasons are excavated to remove impurities and dried.
Medicinal character This product is 10-30 cm long or over, the root is slender, slightly twisted, some branches, up to 10 cm, diameter 0.3-0.7 cm, brown or light brown yellow, with longitudinal wrinkles; white. Stem slender, near base branches. Leaves alternate, sessile, often shrinking leaves, flattened after the strip or inverted lanceolate oval, 1-3 cm long, 0.2-0.4 cm wide, gray-green or brown-green. The flowers are solitary on the top of the branches, light blue-purple. The pods have a conical shape, about 6 to 8 mm long; the seeds are numerous and small. Gas micro, sweet taste, chewing bean flavor. Roots, stems and leaves color green is better.
