This initiative is being promoted nationwide as the largest technology-driven project for agricultural development. Soil testing and formula fertilization have been identified as one of the top 15 practical measures for farmers this year, in line with the "Opinions on Promoting Agricultural Science and Technology Household Registration Work" and the "Implementation Plan for 10 Million Farmers Testing Soil Fertilization and Formulation Fertilization."
Soil testing and formula fertilization are essential for addressing long-standing issues such as excessive and unscientific fertilizer use, which not only increases production costs but also harms the environment and threatens food safety. With rising fertilizer prices, it's more important than ever to improve efficiency and reduce waste. The Ministry of Agriculture has launched a spring campaign to promote these practices, aiming to boost grain production, lower costs, and enhance farmers' income.
This initiative reflects the core values of the "Three Represents," the scientific concept of development, and the commitment to farmers' well-being. It aligns with the goals of improving agricultural productivity and ensuring food security. By promoting soil testing and formula fertilization, the government aims to support sustainable agriculture, protect the environment, and ensure safe and high-quality agricultural products.
The main objectives of the spring action include training 50 million farmers, mobilizing 100,000 technical personnel, and applying soil testing and formula fertilization across 200 million mu of farmland. These efforts will help increase efficiency by 20 yuan per mu and lay the foundation for nationwide implementation.
To achieve these goals, several tasks must be carried out: extensive technical training, expert field guidance, market regulation, public awareness campaigns, strengthening the extension system, improving infrastructure, and standardizing techniques. Each of these steps plays a critical role in ensuring the success of the program.
The Ministry of Agriculture has organized various activities, including media campaigns, training sessions, and exhibitions, to raise awareness and provide farmers with the tools they need. The entire campaign runs from early April to late May, with a review phase in June.
