In order to implement the Central Document No. 1 and the key instructions from central leaders, the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture has prioritized scientific fertilization as a top agenda item, promoting it nationwide as the most significant agricultural technology initiative. As part of this effort, soil testing and formula fertilization have been designated as one of the 15 practical projects for farmers this year. This initiative aligns with the "Opinions on Promoting Agricultural Science and Technology Household Registration Work" and the "Implementation Plan for 10 Million Farmers Testing Soil Fertilization and Formulation Fertilization."
Soil testing and formula fertilization are crucial in addressing long-standing issues such as over-fertilization and inefficient use of resources in rural areas. These problems not only raise production costs but also cause environmental harm and threaten food safety. With rising fertilizer prices, especially during winter and spring, it has become more urgent than ever to adopt efficient and sustainable practices. The Ministry of Agriculture launched a nationwide campaign in the spring to promote these techniques, aiming to improve agricultural productivity while protecting the environment and ensuring the quality of farm produce.
This initiative reflects the principles of the "Three Represents," the scientific concept of development, and the protection of farmers' interests. It supports the goals outlined in the Central Document, enhances overall agricultural capacity, and contributes to increased grain output and farmer income. By implementing soil testing and formula fertilization, we can boost crop yields, reduce input costs, and ensure long-term sustainability in agriculture.
The spring action focuses on training, expert guidance, market regulation, public awareness, and system improvements. Key tasks include providing technical training to millions of farmers, organizing field experts to assist in fertilization decisions, regulating the fertilizer market, and promoting public understanding through media campaigns. Additionally, efforts are being made to strengthen the agricultural extension system, enhance laboratory facilities, and establish standardized procedures for soil testing and fertilization.
The Ministry of Agriculture has organized various activities, including training sessions, media campaigns, and an annual fertilizer fair. Special inspections of the fertilizer market have been conducted to ensure product quality and protect farmers from counterfeit goods. Local governments are also involved in coordinating these efforts and ensuring that all regions participate effectively.
To ensure success, strong leadership, adequate funding, and collaboration across different sectors are essential. Regular supervision and evaluation will help identify challenges and ensure the smooth implementation of the program. The spring campaign ran from early April to late May, followed by a review phase in early June. All regions were encouraged to evaluate their progress, refine strategies, and continue promoting scientific fertilization practices for long-term benefits.
