Nanotube oxygenation and crab cultivation

In a recent demonstration held at his own crab pond in Rulin Township, Jintan City, Qin Weigen, a local cultural expert, showcased the latest advancements in aquaculture technology. He provided an on-site briefing to the heads of agricultural service stations, fishery technicians, and representative crab farming households from surrounding areas, explaining the implementation of nanotube aeration systems in crab cultivation. Experts have highlighted that the use of nano-tube oxygenation combined with crab farming is a pioneering effort nationwide, marking a significant breakthrough for high-yield and high-efficiency crab breeding in Hetang. According to Ding Yongliang, a researcher from the Fisheries Machinery Research Institute under the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, "nanotechnology is set to lead a new revolution in aquaculture." Jintan has developed an innovative method of aerating crab ponds using nanotubes after conducting thorough disinfection and careful stocking per mu (approximately 667 square meters). In one such trial, 2,650 premium crab seedlings and 17 kilograms of freshwater shrimp were raised. Regular management activities, including water and aquatic plant control, water quality monitoring, and feeding schedules, were carried out throughout the process. The installation cost for the aeration system ranges from 600 to 1,000 yuan per acre. The main gas pipeline is positioned 10 to 15 centimeters above the water level in the center of the pond, with nano-tubes placed horizontally along both sides at regular intervals. These nano-tubes are used as a base for planting weed grass. During hot weather, the grass is tied down with ropes to prevent it from floating. When temperatures rise, the aerator is activated promptly. During peak summer months, the oxygenation system runs from midnight until 9 a.m. the next day, ensuring adequate dissolved oxygen levels in the water. This innovative approach has enabled Qin Weigen to achieve a yield of 250 kilograms of river crabs per hectare, with profits exceeding 10,000 yuan per mu. Currently, the Jintan Aquatic Guidance Station is working on applying for a national patent for this groundbreaking technology. The integration of nanotechnology into traditional crab farming not only improves productivity but also sets a new standard for sustainable and efficient aquaculture practices.
