Precautions for the use of medical syringe pumps

When the power is turned on and the syringe is not installed, press the (Power) switch to confirm that all the indicators are flashing and a beep sounds. If the machine self-test is abnormal, immediately turn off the power and immediately notify the professional maintenance personnel.

A disposable syringe should be used for the syringe pump. Try to use the syringe specified by the syringe pump. Before using the syringe pump, make sure that the manufacturer of the syringe is the same as the syringe pump. If it is different, it is difficult to ensure the accuracy of the infusion speed and the accuracy of the alarm.

Special attention should be paid to the use of syringe pumps in the following situations:
(1) When the AC or DC interface is wetted by the liquid, it will cause a short circuit in the syringe pump. Therefore, the syringe pump should be placed in the proper position to ensure that the interface does not get wet when energized.
(2) When the syringe pump is used close to the electrosurgical unit, the medical electrosurgical unit is a surgical instrument that uses high-frequency current to generate high energy for incision or coagulation of living tissue. When the syringe pump is used near such an electric knife, the syringe pump may malfunction due to high frequency interference. When the syringe pump and the electric knife are used at the same time, the following items should be noted: (a) The high-frequency interference of different types of electrosurgical knives is different, and the interference of the old electrosurgical knives is large (vacuum tubes and discharge systems), and this type of electricity should be avoided. Knife; hold the wire (electrosurgical holder, tip connection, electrode plate connection) or there is enough distance between the electrosurgical unit and the syringe pump. Generally, the farther apart, the better, and try not to share the same power supply. (b) Try not to use a mobile phone, radio, or a high-frequency defibrillator near the syringe pump to ensure that the syringe pump is reliably grounded. When using a computer, an electric knife, etc., it is easy to affect the operation of the infusion pump. The operator should check the syringe pump regularly and regularly.

When using, please pay attention to the correct installation of the syringe. During the injection process, always check whether the syringe is loose from the slide clamp. If it is loose, it will “siphon” (by gravity input) or “return”.

The syringe pump generates a positive pressure to drive the liquid into the patient's body, but its design generally does not have the detection function of the infusion tube damage due to the positive pressure. During the infusion process, the infusion line should be regularly inspected for damage, such as leakage of the pipeline or The crack of the filter. It is recommended to install a pipe lock clamp when connecting the infusion line. When there is a lack of flow due to various factors, for example, when the tube is twisted or the needle or the filter is clogged, the pressure inside the infusion tube will increase. At this time, the “quick input” (temporary excessive input of liquid) can be used to input the liquid into the patient. The blocking condition can then be completely removed. If the flow is blocked, an appropriate solution is required, such as by clamping the infusion line.

If the infusion line of the syringe pump is connected to other infusion lines of extreme negative pressure (less than 100 mmHg), the syringe piston may be disengaged from the slide of the syringe pump, resulting in excessive infusion, so this should be avoided. happened.
