Recently, a team from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology Industry Group, specifically Wuhan Huazhong Numerical Control Co., Ltd., has introduced a new infrared-based body temperature screening system called the HY-2005B series. This innovative device is now being deployed in various high-traffic areas across China. With the emergence of the H1N1 flu virus, which primarily causes fever and muscle pain, the need for rapid and accurate temperature screening has become more critical than ever. The HY-2005B is designed to quickly identify individuals with elevated body temperatures, helping to detect potential cases early and prevent further spread.
The system is equipped with advanced infrared technology that allows it to instantly capture thermal images and measure body temperatures when a person enters the detection range. Operators can then receive precise readings in real time. If a person's temperature exceeds the set threshold, the device automatically triggers an alarm, alerting staff to take further action. Additionally, the system is designed to minimize false alarms by accounting for environmental factors and other external influences. The monitoring range is set between 37.5°C and 42°C, ensuring that only relevant temperature readings trigger alerts. If an object within this range is detected, the display will highlight its exact location, allowing operators to determine whether the heat source is from a person’s body or an item they are carrying.
At the Zhuhai Gongbei Port, 12 units of the HY-2005B series have been installed at key entry and exit points. These monitors continuously scan passengers as they move through the area, providing real-time temperature data. With over 250,000 people passing through the port daily, the system ensures full coverage and maintains a high level of accuracy, with measurements kept within 0.5°C. This level of precision makes the HY-2005B an essential tool in public health monitoring and security operations.
The development of the HY-2005B series is part of a broader initiative led by the Huazhong University of Science and Technology Industry Group.
