Cotton is a highly nutritious crop that requires significant amounts of nutrients to thrive. It not only needs a balanced supply of macronutrients but also demands advanced fertilization techniques to ensure optimal growth and yield. According to research, for every 100 kilograms of lint produced, cotton requires approximately 10 to 18.5 kilograms of nitrogen (N), 3.5 to 6 kilograms of phosphorus (Pâ‚‚Oâ‚…), and 13 to 16.5 kilograms of potassium (Kâ‚‚O). The ideal ratio of these three primary nutrients is roughly 3:1:3. In addition to these, cotton also absorbs around 1.29 kilograms of magnesium and 1.86 kilograms of sulfur per 100 kilograms of seed cotton. For every tonne of dry matter formed, the plant takes up about 106 grams of iron, 15 grams of boron, 14 grams of manganese, 16 grams of zinc, and just 0.77 grams of molybdenum. These micronutrients play a crucial role in maintaining the health and productivity of the crop, making proper nutrient management essential for successful cotton cultivation.
