Green sea cucumber

Common name: Side sea cucumber, also known as ginseng sea cucumber.

Origin and Production Period:

This species is mainly produced in the Xisha Islands, southern Hainan Island, Beihai in Guangxi, and Dongzhou Island. These regions are known for their high yield of this particular type of sea cucumber.

Description:

The body shape is quadrangular, with an average length of around 30 cm. Along the corners of the body, there are two alternating rows of conical spines. The underside features numerous tube feet arranged in three longitudinal bands, with the central area being wider. The mouth is large and located slightly on the ventral side, surrounded by approximately 20 tentacles. The body color is typically thick green or black-green, while the top part of the flesh has an orange or reddish-orange hue. The base of the tentacles is gray, turning to gray and black at the tips. The tube feet are generally gray and black in color.

When dried, the sea cucumber takes on a square cylindrical shape, with a slender, grayish-yellow appearance. There are four rows of spines on the surface, and a thin, plate-like structure on the ventral side. It is usually categorized into three sizes: large, medium, and small. Each size corresponds to approximately 30, 40, and 70 pieces per 500 grams, respectively. High-quality specimens should be uniformly thick, plump, straight, with minimal broken skin and no visible defects. The L product does not come in drum-shaped bags. Defective items may include collapsed bodies, twisted strips, uneven thickness, lack of internal residue, swollen abdomens, or sand-filled packages.
