According to local farmers who have been growing sweet peppers for many years, the symptoms described are likely due to low temperatures in the greenhouse. When pepper plants are exposed to cold conditions, the production of anthocyanins—pigments responsible for red and purple colors—increases more rapidly in young leaves and fruits. This can lead to an unusual reddish or purplish discoloration.
In addition, the low temperature in the greenhouse can reduce root activity, making it harder for the plants to absorb essential nutrients like phosphorus. A phosphorus deficiency can also contribute to the symptoms observed.
To address the issue, it is recommended to apply a foliar spray of "Harvest Number One" diluted at 800 times, every 5 to 7 days. At the same time, it's important to raise the temperature inside the greenhouse, especially the soil temperature. Farmers can use ground mulch or plastic film to help retain heat and improve the growing environment for the plants. Keeping the roots warm and healthy will support better nutrient uptake and overall plant growth.
