The concept of organic ecological cultivation matrices is relatively new, emerging only in recent decades as environmental concerns have deepened. A small amount of peat, vermiculite, or perlite may also be added to improve structure. The goal is to produce a non-toxic, renewable growing medium suitable for modern horticulture.
The key to developing these organic matrices lies in creating a product that is physically and chemically stable, made from widely available and low-cost materials, environmentally friendly, and scalable for commercial use. Using various types of organic waste to create soilless growing media not only helps manage waste but also provides a sustainable alternative for soilless farming, enhancing the overall utilization of natural resources and delivering both ecological and social benefits.
